Welcome to our new website.
I can’t believe I purchased the store over 12 months ago. I can’t believe the number of times I have actually said that we will have a regular newsletter & that it has taken more than a year to get the first one together. Having said that, we have had a magnificently satisfying & busy time.
It has only been possible to make cosmetic changes to the appearance of the store & yet I believe it looks & feels so different. We have had some changes in staff & readers during this time which is not unexpected as we are all on a journey, a quest, & moves forward are not only inevitable but encouraged. Likewise we have made some changes to the product mix in an attempt to attract people that perhaps would not normally come into the store & yet are those that may be ready to gain some value from the things we have to offer. I would like the shop to be able to provide some stimuli for those that may be seeking a little guidance & direction but equally a place where anyone can come & just feel better for being there. Customers, staff & readers alike.
There has been such turmoil in the World recently on such a disastrous level, with the media providing almost daily doses of negative & yet heart provoking information & images. Whilst we each have our daily “crosses to bear” the impact of these scenarios both home & abroad are all reminders that we are human & that our emotions & the way we react are a very important part of our development spiritually. We see images of physical devastation almost daily on the TV… what we don’t see is the devastation we cause to, or we suffer from people close to us merely by a few ill-chosen words & actions.
Contemplation, & if you can meditation, is a great way to re-visit the emotions that caused us to hurt others or to examine why we on the other side felt hurt. The words themselves mean nothing, it is the emotions, the feelings, that cause the action or re-action that are the key factors. It is those actions / reactions that are the cause of so much suffering.
We have some magnificent books & audio books that are helpful in addressing such responses. My personal favourite is a Buddhist nun/teacher called Pema Chodron and we have a range of her written & recorded workshops & advise. Come & have a look.
